In the UAE May marks the holy month of Ramadan which is due to start on 16 May and will end on 14 June.  Be sure to celebrate at a traditional Iftar feast and experience the true spirit of this special season - there’s nothing else like it!

During this time of reflection, devotion and giving it’s more important than ever to respect local culture and be mindful not to eat or drink in public during daylight hours in respect to those fasting.  Businesses will operate on reduced hours during this time, so remember to check ahead. Despite this, there’s still plenty to see and do for families this May.

DUBAI

MONSTERSAURUS LIVE IN DUBAI - May 10 - 11
Monstersaurus, a play based on the bestselling book by Claire Freedman and Ben Cort, comes to the Madinat Theatre this May. The play tells the story of Monty, a young inventor who decides to create a world full of wacky monsters. Suitable for adults and little ones alike, the play is an interactive experience, full of singalongs and dance.

MATRYOSHKA FESTIVAL AT CITYWALK - May 2 - 5
This three-day Russian cultural extravaganza returns to City Walk this May. Listen to renowned singer Nikolai Baskov, admire the talent of iconic designer Igor Gulyaev or bag a unique piece from one of the pop-up fashion stores; wander through a traditional yarmarka (market) while tasting Russian specialities; and watch prima ballerinas. Little ones will love the giant matryoshka dolls painted by local and international artists and can play traditional games.

ABU DHABI

DECKED OUT WEEKENDS - now - 12 May
Get set for a fun filled weekend bursting with free entertainment at Yas Marina.  Get the family together and have some fun making arts and crafts or catching one of the live performances.  Plus on Fridays there’s a pop up market and free family movies screening from 7pm.
