Burj Khalifa stars in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (2011)
The Burj Khalifa stars in this high-octane stunt where Tom Cruise's character, Ethan Hunt, hangs off the Burj itself in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. The fourth instalment in the franchise, this is the biggest-budget blockbuster ever to be filmed in Dubai. The Burj Khalifa is un-missable on a seaplane ride in Dubai.
Downtown and JLT star in Star Trek Beyond (2016)
Dubai is often described as a futuristic city, so it’s no surprise that the cityscape features in sci-fi stalwart - Star Trek! Dubai’s Downtown and JLT neighbourhoods serve as a Federation Starbase known as YorkTown, which is encountered by the crew of the Starship Enterprise on their intergalactic journey.
Downtown Dubai and the Jumeirah coast star in Geostorm (2017)
This disaster movie centres on a solving what’s going wrong with a satellite system designed to control Earth’s climate. Moviegoers will witness a giant wave crashing into Downtown Dubai.
Dubai’s desert stars in Syriana (2005)
George Clooney and Matt Damon starred in this tense drama, which intertwines numerous storylines, including a dubious oil company merger, an Arabian royalty visit and an assassination plot. While the storyline is set in Iran, the scenes were actually shot in Dubai. Director Stephen Gaghan decided that Dubai provided a perfect location to shoot many of the desert scenes, which are minutes from downtown.
The city of Dubai stars in City of Life (2009)
Emirati director Al F Mustafa presided over City of Life, the first major English-language feature film to be filmed wholly in Dubai. The film, which sees the lives of an Arab man, an Indian taxi driver and a Romanian flight attendant collide, is a perfect portrayal of Dubai's real-life multicultural demographic.

The Abu Dhabi desert stars in Star Wars Episode VII – The Force Awakens (2015)
While not technically in Dubai, it’s close enough. We know that several parts of the film were shot a short drive from Dubai. As part of the expansive set, a shuttle-like spacecraft, tower and life-sized market were all built in the Abu Dhabi desert.
Etihad Towers and Emirates Palace Hotel star in The Fast and the Furious: Furious 7 (2015)
Again, this is in Abu Dhabi but we thought we’d squeeze these in! Several scenes were shot inside Etihad Towers. However, the most recognizable will be the ones shot outside the Emirates Palace Hotel, which is easily visible on our popular Abu Dhabi scenic flight.
Classic seaplane stars in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
A seaplane stars in the cult classic film, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom – while it’s not the exact same plane as our own luxury Cessna 208 Caravans it’s a wonderful scene!
