Dubai is famous for world-record breaking towers, mind-boggling mega malls and incredible feats of engineering. Exciting desert adventures and sunny beaches stretching along the Jumeirah coast offer plenty of possibilities to explore. There is a lot to see and do, but what about if you’re looking for things to do with the kids? Not to worry!
We’ve rounded up our favourite things to do in Dubai with family in our top 9 list below:
1. Visit Dubai Garden Glow after dark
This fun attraction only really kicks off after dark, and makes for a wonderful evening with the kids. Explore the light-filled grounds and marvel at hundreds of beautifully lit lanterns, or take the kids for an adventure and discover the dinosaur park which is bursting with moving animatronic dinosaurs. You can even visit Dubai’s ‘coolest’ new hang out, the new Ice Park which features hundreds of incredible ice sculptures – be sure to wrap up as these are housed in sub-zero temperatures.
2. Check out Dubai Safari
The city’s newest wildlife experience features a range of unique ‘villages’ to explore, offering a full day of fun. And, with more than 2,500 animals there’s a lot to see and do with the kids. The most exciting feature is the Safari Village, a unique ‘drive-through’ experience, where you can see animals in their natural environment and imagine you’re in the wild! The Arabian Village showcases traditional pursuits such as falconry and camel shows, as well as animals native to the Emirates. If your kids are crazy about animals it’s one of the best things to do in Dubai with family.
3. Soar on a Seawings adventure
Get set to be taken on an adventure across the skies and see Dubai from a completely fresh perspective! There’s something really special about meeting the pilot, making this one of the most exciting things to do in Dubai with family, especially if your little ones love planes. Taking off from the water into the sky is a unique experience, and seeing all the icons like the Palm Jumeirah and Burj Khalifa from the sky is simply stunning. Have some fun and see if the kids can find where you stay and point out their favourite landmarks as you fly over the city on this thrilling aerial tour.
4. Visit Global Village
If you want to take kids on a trip around the world in one day, Global Village is just the ticket! See Big Ben, marvel at the Eiffel Tower and take photos with the Statue of Liberty! If you want to explore the world with your appetite there are famous dishes from around the world to try such as authentic Dum Biryani and tasty Jumbo Shrimp. Take a day to visit the different attractions and rides, or catch one of the stunt shows or concerts. Note Global Village is only open during Dubai’s winter months and will finish the current season on 7 April, 2018.
5. Have a beach day at La Mer Dubai
If you’re looking for a luxury family beach day, why not head to La Mer? It’s one of the newest Dubai vacation spots in the city, and is perfect if you have the kids in tow. There are family cabanas for hire so you can enjoy a comfortable base for the day. The incredibly bouncy Hawa Hawa playground is the first of its kind outside of Japan, and perfect for jumping off some energy. Along with the innovative ‘Littleworld’ edu-tainment centre, you have all the ingredients for a wonderful family day out.
6. Explore Green Planet
This unique bio-dome is home to more than 3,000 plants and animals, and perfectly situated in the heart of City Walk. Explore different zones from the tree-line to the flooded forest floor and learn more about the flora and fauna that make this earth so fascinating. See bright toucans, colourful snakes and if you’re lucky you might even spot the slow moving sloth! There are multi-pass tickets available that allow entry at nearby Hubzero or Mattel Playtown too.
7. Make a splash at Aquaventure
Over the cooler winter months many families use the weather to advantage and take the kids outdoors. Aquaventure is one of the best waterparks in the UAE and it’s easy to see why. With more than 17 hectares of watery thrills and spills this makes for a great family outing. There are dedicated splash areas for the little ones and enough fast rides to keep the teenagers entertained, plus you can rent family cabana spaces so that everyone knows where to meet up and guarantees a shady place to relax.
8. See the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo
This attraction is a worthwhile visit year round, and while most people just see the tanks from the outside wall in the mall, the full visit is a must do – especially when you get to visit the underwater zoo too! The Aquarium boasts more than 140 species, which means there’s plenty of marine life for the kids to see. Little mermaids will love the mermaid encounters on offer. The Underwater Zoo is a fun, educational experience. Marvel at the world’s biggest crocodile or discover the secrets of the night owl. There’s even a ‘junior aquarist experience’ allowing kids to get a ‘behind the scenes’ look at life at the aquarium.
9. Take lunch at Ripe Markets
The kids will have a blast playing outside while mums and dads can enjoy a relaxed coffee and browse the stalls which feature a range of local arts, crafts and produce. Pick up fresh organic vegetables, and enjoy the live music and free activities with the family. The markets run on Fridays at Zabeel Park and Saturdays at Al Barsha Pond Park during winter, be sure to check that you’re heading to the right park before you go. This is one of the best outdoor things to do in Dubai with family during winter, as in summer it’s much too hot to enjoy the open air!
Out of all the things to do in Dubai with family, we recommend our Seawings seaplane tour – it’s an incredible experience to share with your family! Plus you’ll enjoy 15 per cent off the children’s fares too.
